The ICT Role in Educational Improvement
Today, the role of ICT in education and schools has drastically changed. In the early 20th century, computers were used merely as learning tools in the classroom; they were primarily used by teachers to aid students with math problems and word games. Today, technology has transformed itself from being just a tool into an essential part of daily life and classroom learning experiences for children. Educators use computers and other ICT tools to enhance and enrich students’ knowledge about key subjects such as mathematics and language arts.

Introduction
In recent years, the role of information and communication technology (ICT) has been studied extensively as a way to improve educational outcomes. In this blog post, we review some of these studies and try to understand how effective ICTs can be in improving the quality of education. First, there is evidence that digital technologies can lead to better student engagement with their learning materials and with their teachers. Students also have access to resources like YouTube which enable them to learn outside of school. Furthermore, interactive games are proving beneficial for students with special needs or those who struggle academically. Finally, virtual reality is being used in some schools as an educational tool and it seems that it may help children learn more effectively than traditional methods.
What is IC in Education?
ICT stands for Information and Communication Technology. It is a term used to describe new technologies that are used for information processing, communication, and other purposes.
The education said is confronting many difficulties these days. We experience a daily reality such that successive changes happen in all areas.

This pandemic has brought another model of realization, which is online for individuals. Today, from the time we get up in the first part of the day to the time we rest, we are encircled by media like papers, radio, television, and PCs. In this way, getting educated and utilizing data and specialized apparatuses is vital in the evolving society. If we use and take on ICT in schools, our education framework can succeed, and the nation would turn into an information superpower.
The Importance of ICT in Education
ICT is already making a significant impact on education and is poised to have even more influence. With the introduction of the internet and its capabilities, there are now many opportunities for students to take courses at their own pace, with 24/7 access to information and course materials. There are also several free resources available online that can help students prepare for school. Students can use Khan Academy to learn math and science, Coursera for computer programming classes, or MIT OpenCourseWare for lectures from some of the top universities in the world. These resources give students around the world equal opportunity to learn from quality instruction from people such as Sir Ken Robinson or Sir Salman Khan
There are also non-profit organizations dedicated to providing educational opportunities for children who might not otherwise be able to afford them.
ICT and Student Learning
ICT is a powerful tool for educational improvement, but it's important to use it correctly. It can be an excellent way to supplement and enhance the curriculum by providing students with new opportunities for learning both inside and outside of the classroom. However, if implemented incorrectly, it could have negative consequences on student learning. So what's the best way to put these technologies to work for our students? Education experts recommend that teachers combine ICTs with teaching practices that build deep conceptual understanding, foster critical thinking skills, and promote creativity. Teachers who are new to using technology should first spend time developing their knowledge and skills before using them with their students. They should also seek out mentors or other educators who can share their experience and expertise with them. In addition, schools should provide staff development sessions where educators can learn about integrating technology into the classroom, take part in hands-on activities, discuss common challenges, and share resources. Schools may also want to offer one-to-one training programs so that all teachers have access to this valuable professional development opportunity.
ICT and Teacher Professional Development
In my opinion, the role of ICT should be to empower teachers and support them in their work. One way to do this is by providing professional development opportunities that show teachers how they can use ICT to improve their teaching and learning practices. As a teacher educator, I am involved with developing courses for our new bachelor's degree program in which students are required to complete two semesters of teaching courses during their studies. The most recent course was designed around the theme of ICT Integration: Theory and Practice. We developed three specific topics around which we divided the semester into three modules:
(1) Theoretical Perspectives on Technology Integration.
(2) Differentiation Strategies for Teaching and Learning.
(3) Computer-Assisted Assessment.
During these modules, students were introduced to various theoretical perspectives on technology integration from Stephen Brookfield's Stirring Waters theory
to Alan Gartner's Thoughtful Use theory. Students also learned about differentiation strategies from William Glasser's Reality Therapy to Tony Wagner's Seven Survival Skills framework. Students also explored computer-assisted assessment including adaptive assessments and electronic portfolios.
Conclusion
ICT can also be used to create self-directed learning materials. A good example of this is the Khan Academy, a non-profit organization created by Salman Khan, who started tutoring his cousins on the internet. The goal of the Khan Academy was to make self-directed learning available for anyone anywhere. With their website and YouTube videos, they have been able to educate people from all over the world about things like mathematics, computer science, economics, and history. In addition, there are now millions of students using Khan Academy every day. All these people are showing that education has changed dramatically with its use of it.
